GET OUT

Image
Being my first time watching get out, I was very excited to finally watch it. The story itself was very compelling and kept me on my toes and had my heart pounding. I truly felt the anxiety the characters felt and that was such a unique experience for me. Several of the scenes had things I could deeply relate to in some way along with so many references to many aspects of things in my own life. For example, the scene where Chris is going in for a fist bump and is met with this weird handshake, this was both hilarious and relatable. The editing was unreal. The sunken place was such a, dare I say, mind boggling thing to see. I felt that he was able to perfectly represent a state of mind that it so hard to describe to others who haven’t been there.  . Another thing that just stuck with me is both the beginning and ending scene, The beginning scene is Rose looking at some desserts which is being paralleled with Chris looking at himself getting ready in the mirror. Marie Antoinette review

Image
I enjoyed this film more than I had originally thought I would. The beginning I was very confused due to the lack of historical background regarding the characters, which was only somewhat explained in their cultural relevance. I noticed that this film used a LOT of symmetry and all these extravagant backgrounds and shots, it was compelling to just look at all the detail they put into each scene. The costumes were also very detailed and intricate. Especially Marie’s hair, I was curious how tall it would be as the film was continuing.  If im being honest I was very lost with the story that was being told, to me it seemed to be about a woman who married into power to help protect her country. But once she married in, she just started having a lot of fun and did not seem really focused on any political issues or dealing with how the French were viewing her. Granted she is fairly young during this time; I feel like I didn’t get something crucial in understanding this film. What ...

Rear Window discussion

Image
1.) How did LB Jefferies break his leg? Jefferies broke his leg, the first time, trying to get the perfect shot of some kind of racing meet. I'm assuming he was standing at the finish line and was not able to get out of the way in time. But he got the shot, so it was worth it I suppose. 2.) What is the significance of always being in Jefferies’ window? Being that his entire career is about getting the perfect shot, he's practically always peering into other people's lives through his on lens. I think by framing the story this way it asks the question about perception of other people's lives. From what he's able to see of people's home life he begins to make assumptions about their lives whether they're true or not. 3.) Would Jeffries have caught Lars if he wasn’t injured and in his wheelchair? Why or why not? I dont think he would have. As a man who practically devotes his live to his work, I doubt he would stay at home for anything besides sleeping. Because...
