A scene that stuck with me
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. 2001 J.K Rowling. In this scene the sorting hat is, well, sorting people into the four different houses. For the most part the sorting hat takes a relatively short time before announcing to the entire hall the placement of the child. However once we get to Harry, this changes. The hat states that placing harry would be difficult. It starts to name the qualities that make Harry good suit for gryffindor but then following it up with his qualities the resonate with slytherin. While this is happening the camera is panning around Harry, front facing when talking about gryffindor, back facing when talking about slytherin. I think this stuck with me because it shows that though Harry is showing great aptitude for the values of gryffindor, he also posses the qualities that make a great slytherin even if he himself rejects the idea.
